Demaco, market leader in Belgium

 Short history

The business which Marcel and Lieve Decuypere took over in 1961 was at first a funeral parlor annex a bodywork shop, but evolved very soon into a successfull manufacturer of coffins. In 1987 their son Bart and his wife Shirley took over the business, and continued the expansion of Demaco .

In 1991 Demaco moved to the industrial zone of Drongen. During the following years the plant expanded to a total surface of 10.000 m².
In 1998, the existing administration block was renovated. The commercial and administration staff were housed in new buildings with an extensive showroom. At the same time important investments in new equipments, machines and material were made. The machinery is one of the most up-to-date, which forms the base of our high quality standards.

Meanwhile a new style came through Demaco, who's young and dynamic team of co-workers contributes to the success of the company.

The small workshop from the early sixties evolved into a plant where 70 co-workers produce 60.000 coffins a year which represents a turnover of about 11 millions EUR.

In 2006 Demaco joined the belgian group Funico International as part of intensive internationalization and professionalization. All companies of the group are active in manufacturing of and sales of coffins. They each follow their own course with own product ranges, sales & management team and pricing.

We will continue working at our plans of external growth as well on the internal as on the external market.
Not only a top quality, but also a friendly customer's approach as well as correctness and punctuality are the cornerstones of the Demaco philosophy.

In the future we hope to be able to continue the very pleasing collaboration with our customers as well as our suppliers in a totally satisfying way.

« La petite » histoire

La firme que Marcel et Lieve DECUYPERE ont repris en 1961 était une entreprise de pompes funèbres et une carrosserie, mais elle s'est spécialisée rapidement et avec succès dans la production de cercueils. Ils ont remis le flambeau en 1987 à leur fils Bart, qui avec l'aide de son épouse Shirley, a continué l'expansion de Demaco.

Demaco s'est établi en 1961 dans la Z.I. de Drongen près de Gand. Les bâtiments se sont agrandis de façon continue pour arriver à une superficie totale de 10.000 m².

En 1998 les bureaux existants furent réaménagés. Le personnel administratif et commercial dispose de bâtiments nouveaux, où on a également prévu une vaste salle d'exposition. En même temps des investissements importants furent réalisés en matériaux, machines et équipements. Le parc de machines est l'un des plus modernes, il est à la base de la qualité livrée.

L'ère du rajeunissement s'est fait sentir sur Demaco, qui peut compter sur une équipe jeune et motivée participant au succès de l'entreprise.
Le petit atelier des années 60 s'est transformé en une usine où 70 personnes fabriquent 60.000 cercueils par an, ce qui correspond à un chiffre d’affaires d’environ 11 millions EUR.

En 2006 Demaco rejoint le groupe Funico International et entame le chemin de l'internationalisation et la professionalisation. Toute société du group est active dans la production et la vente de cercueils. Chacun développe sa propre gamme, a ses équipes de vente et sa propre direction et décide indépendamment sur sa politique des prix.
